Better Bottle Closure with Plug
£13.50More information
The closure is made of an incredibly tough PET that does not stain or impart flavours and is easily cleaned and sterilised. Flexible stoppers and caps are the best solution for glass carboys, because glass carboys have irregular necks. However, the flexible materials used to make stoppers and caps are likely to: 1) harbour contamination; 2) impart, or carry over, flavours; 3) deteriorate when treated with sterilising agents, and 4) leak oxygen.
Better-Bottle's rigid closure fits all sizes of Better-Bottle carboys and has none of these drawbacks.
Better-Bottle PET Closure fittings include: a plain plug; 1/8" NPT threaded plugs equipped with either 90 or "T" hose barb adapters for 1/4" ID hose; and a low-profile Dry Trap fermentation lock that requires no liquid. A plain plug is supplied with each PET closure. -
Better Bottle Dry Trap
£10.25More information
These air locks are precision check valves made of an incredibly tough, proprietary PET that does not stain or impart flavours and is easily cleaned and sterilized. A polished ceramic ball rests in a tapered seat to create a one-way seal. Fermentation gases can escape easily by pushing the ball up, but air is blocked from flowing in the reverse direction.
These fit into the centre of the Closure, replacing the plain plug. Dry Traps have many advantages compared to liquid-filled air locks, chief among them is that there is no liquid to run dry, blow out or suck back and as they add only 4.4cm to the height of the carboy they reduce the height needed for storage. -

Better Bottle Fermenter 22.7l Plain
£14.99More information
Better-Bottle's innovative range of fermenters are strong, light in weight and much easier to use, wash and sterilise than glass carboys. They are made from a special PET that is impervious to oxygen and which does not stain or carry flavours over from one fermentation to another.
The specially designed, High Flow Valve and the range of high quality adaptors eliminate the need for siphons and allow for simple racking with much reduced splashing and consequently a minimum risk of oxidation.
A choice of handles can be safely attached to the strong, precision necks of Better-Bottle carboys.
Their website www.better-bottle.com shows clearly how to use these carboys and their fittings, including a clever way to achieve oxygen free racking, and is well worth a visit. UK visitors to their site should remember that where the capacities are given in gallons that these will be US gallons and not UK gallons, that an American pail is a British bucket, a ported fermenter is one with a pre-cut hole and a high flow valve is a tap, albeit a very good one!
A 22.7 litre PET fermenter without the hole to accept the Carboy Racking Adapter.
It is not recommended to attempt to drill holes in plain Better-Bottle carboys as the special PET from which the carboys are made is very tough and specialized tools are required to make sufficiently smooth holes.
