£3.40More information
This flexible stopper fits the neck of both 3 gallon and 5 gallon Better Bottles and its centre hole accepts bubbler airlocks.
-
Better Bottle Closure with Plug
£13.50More information
The closure is made of an incredibly tough PET that does not stain or impart flavours and is easily cleaned and sterilised. Flexible stoppers and caps are the best solution for glass carboys, because glass carboys have irregular necks. However, the flexible materials used to make stoppers and caps are likely to: 1) harbour contamination; 2) impart, or carry over, flavours; 3) deteriorate when treated with sterilising agents, and 4) leak oxygen.
Better-Bottle's rigid closure fits all sizes of Better-Bottle carboys and has none of these drawbacks.
Better-Bottle PET Closure fittings include: a plain plug; 1/8" NPT threaded plugs equipped with either 90 or "T" hose barb adapters for 1/4" ID hose; and a low-profile Dry Trap fermentation lock that requires no liquid. A plain plug is supplied with each PET closure. -
Better Bottle Dry Trap
£10.25More information
These air locks are precision check valves made of an incredibly tough, proprietary PET that does not stain or impart flavours and is easily cleaned and sterilized. A polished ceramic ball rests in a tapered seat to create a one-way seal. Fermentation gases can escape easily by pushing the ball up, but air is blocked from flowing in the reverse direction.
These fit into the centre of the Closure, replacing the plain plug. Dry Traps have many advantages compared to liquid-filled air locks, chief among them is that there is no liquid to run dry, blow out or suck back and as they add only 4.4cm to the height of the carboy they reduce the height needed for storage. -
Better Bottle Fermenter 22.7l Plain
£29.50More information
Better-Bottle's innovative range of fermenters are strong, light in weight and much easier to use, wash and sterilise than glass carboys. They are made from a special PET that is impervious to oxygen and which does not stain or carry flavours over from one fermentation to another.
The specially designed, High Flow Valve and the range of high quality adaptors eliminate the need for siphons and allow for simple racking with much reduced splashing and consequently a minimum risk of oxidation.
A choice of handles can be safely attached to the strong, precision necks of Better-Bottle carboys.
Their website www.better-bottle.com shows clearly how to use these carboys and their fittings, including a clever way to achieve oxygen free racking, and is well worth a visit. UK visitors to their site should remember that where the capacities are given in gallons that these will be US gallons and not UK gallons, that an American pail is a British bucket, a ported fermenter is one with a pre-cut hole and a high flow valve is a tap, albeit a very good one!
A 22.7 litre PET fermenter without the hole to accept the Carboy Racking Adapter.
It is not recommended to attempt to drill holes in plain Better-Bottle carboys as the special PET from which the carboys are made is very tough and specialized tools are required to make sufficiently smooth holes. -
Better Bottle Fermenter Handle Blue
£7.49More information
Blue, snap-on handles fit the necks of all sizes of Better-Bottle carboys, and you will only need a few for all of your carboys. The blue handles have a comfortable grip and are made of durable, reinforced plastic. Carboys do not tip when they are lifted with the blue handles, so their contents are not disturbed.
Blue handles are designed for carrying Better-Bottle carboys in suitcase fashion. Blue handles are not designed for lifting carboys at an angle with two hands in order to place the carboys on shelves or to pour from the necks of the carboys, because the handles may disengage. -

£3.40More information
A rubber stopper which fits the neck of 5 gallon Better Bottle fermenters.

Better Bottle Racking Carboy Adaptor
£17.75More information
The Better-Bottle Carboy Racking Adapter attaches the High-Flow valve to any ported Better-Bottle carboy and makes racking and bottling quick and easy. The Racking Adapter uses a special O-ring to make a seal against the inside wall of a Better-Bottle carboy eliminating crevices that could trap contamination. This special O-ring also makes it possible to rotate the body of the Racking Adapter easily, without lubrication. Racking simply requires rotating the Adapter so the tip of its intake stem is just above the sediment layer, opening the High-Flow valve, and letting gravity do the work there is no need for siphons or pumps.
The external pointer makes it possible to adjust the position of the stem even if the stem cannot be seen through a dark wine or beer. We particularly like this adaptor because, as we ferment on shelves, we can rack from carboys without having to move them to a place where there is sufficient headroom to introduce a racking cane. -
Better Bottle Simple Flow Valve
£8.50More information
The Better-Bottle Simple-Flow Valve can be used in line with hoses or as an outlet for pails and Better-Bottle carboys. The valve can be opened for partial or full flow and closed in the blink of an eye. Its wide, simple flow path resists clogging and it can be disassembled and reassembled for cleaning or inspection in a matter of seconds without tools.
