Bilberries are an excellent fruit, with a low tannin level, for wine making providing a superb rich flavour and they are particularly good in full bodied desert style wines.
They are also recommended as an aid to eye health.
During World War Two some pilots in the Royal Air Force would consume Bilberry jam to improve their night vision. -
