Elderberries - 500g£6.50
A popular fruit which makes a full bodied red wine.
They have a high tannin level but a low acid content and so are often blended with other wine making fruits, white or red, to produce a well balanced wine.
As the contribution from dehydrated fruits is more concentrated than fresh the rate of use should be reduced accordingly when following a recipe.
The rate of use can therefore be adjusted from 1/3 - 1/5 of the fresh, dependent on personal taste.
Elderflowers - 50g£2.00
Elderflowers can add a delightful aroma similar to that of Hock style wines.
Each packet will make atleast two gallons of wine, more if a more delicate contribution is sought.
Pack Size 50g
These dried Hawthorn berries have been cultivated specifically for the purpose of making great wine with the additions of white grape juice concentrate, pectolase nutrient yeast & citric acid.
The berry is considered to impart wonderful health promoting benefits.
Pack Size 50g
Raisins - 500g£5.00
Being dried grapes these provide aroma, body, flavour and vinosity to wines made from other fruits and from flowers.
This can be used either to spice up a wine lacking in flavour or to produce drinks such as ginger beer, wine or cordial.
Can be used to produce alcoholic or non alcoholic ginger beer with sugar & citrus fruits.
For alcoholic try any of the Ale yeasts & leave to ferment.
Care is needed though, it can be quite a vociferous ferment!
