Beer Making
- Beer Finings
- Beer Yeast and Nutrient
- Malt Extract
Malt extract is sold in both liquid (syrup) and powdered forms. The syrups are approximately 20 percent water, so 2kg of Dry Malt Extract (DME) is roughly equal to 2.5 kg of Liquid Malt Extract (LME).
Our 500 gms DME is the Muntons Foil Pack Spray Malt.
The 1 Kg DME comes from a variety of quality assured suppliers.
DME is produced by heating the liquid extract and spraying it from an atomizer in a heated chamber. Strong air currents keep the droplets suspended until they dry and settle to the floor.

Edme DMS - 1.5kg Tin
£11.69More information
The original Diastatic Malt Syrup (DMS), but now made exclusively by Muntons.
DMS is manufactured by mashing quality malted barley and then sparging to produce a sugary wort just as in a brewery. The wort is now concentrated by evaporating off the water at a controlled low temperature.
This produces a dense liquid diastatic malt extract with the original malt's α-amylase and β-amylase properties largely intact.
These diastatic properties can be used either to convert cereal adjuncts in malt extract beers or, in real emergencies, to rescue a set mash. -
Edme SFX - 1.5kg Tin
£11.69More information
Superflavex has been around in the homebrew trade for even longer than me!
It contains added brewers caramel so is darker than DMS, but it does not have any of DMS's diastatic properties.
Superflavex can be used with adjuncts which have already been converted, such as Crystal Malt, but due to it's lack of diastatic properties it should not be used with unconverted adjuncts such as Flaked Barley. -
