It comes with a screw cap fitted with an S30 valve for use with an S30 cylinder.
It has a small 2" diameter neck which limits access for cleaning.
Ideal for small brews or partial barreling & partial bottling of a standard brew.

The pilsners of southern Germany are generally softer and less bitter than their northern counterparts. This fine example is perfectly balanced with a delicate bitterness provided by Hallertauer Hersbrucker hops. Although it is acceptable to ferment this beer at room temperature, a cleaner taste will result from the genuine bottom fermenting yeast if the temperature can be held between 12°C and 16°C. Best bottled but can be served from a keg if preferred.

Before the invention of pale beers in Pilsen in 1842, the dark lagers of Munich and Vienna were the most favoured beers in Central Europe. All Munich breweries still produce a 'Dunkel', and now so can you. The Altbiers of Dusseldorf have probably the highest bitterness level of all European beers, although they are not harsh due the use of large quantities of low alpha 'noble' hops. This Alt has a blend of German roasted malts and Saaz hops. It is malty but with a huge hop character. Although Altbiers are ales, a bottom fermenting yeast has been used as this gives the beer a clean taste similar to commercial examples. Makes 10 awesome litres.

Wheat beers are deservedly popular all over the world but until now have been difficult to brew at home.
For the malt extract the classic ratio of 55% wheat and 45% barley has been used and the Hallertaueur Hersbrucker hops give just a delicate hint of bitterness. Although a bottom fermenting yeast has been used, the characteristic esthery flavours are much in evidence when fermenting at warmer temperatures (20C-25C).
Best bottled but can be served from a keg if preferred. Makes wonderful 10 litres. -

The choice of steriliser is a matter of personal preference.
Bruclean is now the only steriliser we use ourselves.
We find it to be a highly effective, no-foam cleaner and steriliser, which is safe for use with all plastics and metals.
It is particularly effective in the cleaning.and sterilising of casks, fermenting vessels and tanks, with maximum recommended contact time 30 minutes.
Bruclean is an alkaline but non-caustic based detergent consisting of alkalis, wetting agents and sequesterants containing an available chlorine donor as a sterilant.
It can be used as a hot or cold solution.
For general cleaning, mix 5 – 10 grams of Bruclean per litre of hot or cold water & rinse equipment after use.
Excellent for automatic cask/keg washers and all CIP systems.
The wearing of rubber gloves for manual cleaning is recommended.
Storage and handling:
Store in a cool, dry place away from acids, ammonia or ammonium compounds. -

Hambleton Bard S30 gas cylinder - new

This is the most commonly used CO2 cylinder for topping up the pressure in homebrew beer barrels - e.g.King Kegs.
It can be used with each of the beer barrels shown on our website provided that it is fitted with a gas injection valve rather than a simple vent cap.
Just screw the cylinder down onto the valve to start the gas flowing and turn it back it again to stop.
The gas should be added to the keg in short bursts of 1 second to stop the cylinder freezing in the open position. Running the end of the cylinder under hot water prior to use will also help to prevent this.
These cylinders contain 245g of compressed Carbon Dioxide.
Better value than a box of the CO2 Bulbs (approx 80 gms).
Once fully utilised simply get a re-fill - see separate item.
These cylinders are an economical way of adding CO2 to your beer. -
